Ateka Contractor

Dr. Ateka Contractor is an Associate Professor at University of North Texas. She obtained a Clinical Psychology doctoral degree from University of Toledo after completing predoctoral internship at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and postdoctoral fellowship at the Boston VA Research Institute. She has >150 publications in the area of Trauma and PTSD: (1) transdiagnostic constructs driving PTSD's comorbidity with depression/reckless behaviors (e.g., positive memory processes, affect regulation); (2) heterogeneity in PTSD's symptomatology/trauma; and (3) cultural influences on PTSD's symptomatology. She is a licensed psychologist, Co-PI on a grant addressing daily impacts of a positive memory intervention on affect and cognitive indicators, consultant on SAMHSA-funded grants focused on family trauma treatments, editorial board member of 4 journals, and Associate Editor for Anxiety, Stress, and Coping.
